- Found a temple and some magic rings ( Rings of Ilmater’s Salvation)
- Captured the evil noble
- Discovered he was working for devils and not Shar
- Turned over to city guard for a reward
- Gave the Priestess of Shar Journal to Pennus, he will work on translation
- About to set off for the Shar temple to the South.
The heroes found themselves disoriented in the woods, knowing they should have gotten to town by this point. They soon learned they were traveling in a circle and made their way to the center. They also noticed the horizon had changed and that there was a very tall mountain in the distance that was not there before. They found a temple and went inside. They awoke some animated armor who warned them to leave. The heroes ran ahead into a room with 2 rings, and put the rings on while fighting back the armor. They defeated the armor, with no help from the rings, and explored the rest of the temple. After ruining a perfectly good mirror, they left and Lander made it out with a new set of plate and a new Greatsword.
They continued to town where they were able to rest and resupply. They learned that the rings were able to heal wounds. They set out for the noble, only to soon be attacked by some thugs that were carrying an apparent Shar contract. These were easily defeated.
After arriving at the Nobel’s manor, they decided to pose as mercenaries looking for work. The noble seemed eager and said he had work for them. He drew up some contracts for them to sign. Upon close inspection, Lander noticed these contracts were trying to get them to give up their soul in exchange for power. He asked the noble if they could have some time to discuss. While talking, they noticed that the ravens that were previously perched on the bookcase, had vanished. Realizing they were probably listening in, they went to search for the noble but could not find him. While searching, Ping was stung in the back by an Imp. He was able to quickly fight this imp off while Lander and Paws came to help. The other Imp came out of hiding and attacked but was easily destroyed.
The search for the noble continued, paws caught his scent and led the heroes to a secret room that had yet another secret exit. After saving a badly injured girl with the rings (and finding two more that were already gone) the heroes descended into the hidden cellar. Here they found the noble hiding behind a chest and some zombies milling around. The noble offered them the contents of the chest if they would let him live. Lander said he must answer for his crimes and started attacking zombies. After the zombies were dealt with, Lander approached the noble to talk. This triggered a hidden glyph in the floor that set off a trap. The noble, expecting this, braced for the effects of the sleep spell. However, this was not enough and he was soon passed out. The heroes, however, were able to fight back the sudden urge to sleep and use this opportunity to bind the noble.
They took the noble back to Lobston and forced him to act normal under threat of devouring by Paws. They took him to their apartment over the alchemy shop and asked the owner to find Pennus. Pennus suggested that they talk to the city guard. One hero went to talk tot he guard while the other watched over their prisoner. The guard agreed to take the noble into custody and gave the heroes a small reward of gold for the noble and the evidence they also turned in.
Pennus asked them what they found and they informed him that the noble was seemingly unrelated to Shar, but they turned over the journal they found in the cave. Pennus said he would work on getting it translated and that it may take some time to find someone, especially someone trustworthy. They told him about the temple and the rings and he was amazed that it would seem Ilamater has intervened to help in their quest. He told them they still need to check out the old Temple of Shar and look for more info on the Cult’s next moves.
